Congratulations to all of the skiers participating in the Rochester Nordic Invite on Friday! A total of 129 skiers participated in the race with 95 RNST members joining skiers from Red Wing and Winona. The skiers raced a 5.55K trail on the golf course and through the woods in the freestyle technique. First year skiers traversed a slightly shorter 4.5K course which didn't include a section of the woods trail. Great snow conditions and 20 degree temps made for many happy faces on the ski trail.
Congrats to RNST skiers Peter Foley and Elena Cattaneo who were the varsity champions. Sarah Persons was the girls junior varsity champion, and Ian Dewey was the top RNST junior varsity skier as he finished 2nd in the junior varsity boys race. David Bauer and Gabrielle Miller led the 1st year skiers across the finish line.
Thanks to Mike Trantow who did a great job in his debut as the Rochester Nordic Invite director, and to groomers Dave Greymont, Jeff Robertson, and Lisa Luetmer who spent many hours grooming and repairing the course. Grooming in the morning's 1" snowfall made for perfect course conditions.
Thanks to the Post-Bulletin for their coverage of the meet in Saturday's paper. Be sure to view the Invite pictures on the Post-Bulletin web site.
Thank you to Great Harvest who donated the baked goods for post-race refreshments. Be sure to thank them for their support when you visit their store. Finally, a big thank you to the coaches and parents who volunteered at the race. Your efforts made for a very smooth-running ski race and a great experience for all.

Chippewa Valley Nordic Invite - Tuesday, January 19, 2016
RNST raced against Winona, Red Wing, and Chippewa Valley on Tuesday evening. This was the first time that the RNST has raced in Eau Claire and the lighted trails at Tower Ridge Ski Area were in good condition for a fast race at 5 degrees F. Several team members raced for the first time. The hospitality (and food) provided by the host team was appreciated. Results are attached.
